About the true diversity.
There are two solutions for true diversity, mutual-standby true diversity and active-standby true diversity.
Essentially, this is a concept derived from computer system backup solutions.
Mutual backup true diversity: two antennas and two circuits back up each other. The signal received by each antenna must be divided into two parts and entered into two circuits. Therefore, this solution will actually cause signal attenuation. The direct manifestation is that the wireless transmission distance becomes shorter.
Active-standby true diversity uses two antennas and two circuits to handle one channel of audio. One antenna + one circuit works, and the other antenna + another circuit does nothing, only backup. This results in a significant increase in costs.
In fact, the concept of true diversity was proposed because of the shortcomings of analog audio circuits. Analog circuits require the use of many analog devices. Such as capacitors and inductors. These devices are prone to aging over time, weather changes, and temperature changes. This greatly reduces the stability of the circuit.
This brings up the concept of backup. When there is a problem with one of the circuits, there is another circuit in the host that provides backup.
However, in the digital audio era, circuit design is completely different from the previous analog audio concepts. Digital audio uses digital circuits, mainly integrated circuits. The core technology has become coding, decoding, compression algorithms and other technologies.
Since traditional discrete devices such as capacitors and inductors are no longer used, the internal circuit stability of digital audio equipment has been greatly improved. Therefore, the need for circuit backup is reduced. For digital audio equipment, true diversity circuits still have a role, but are no longer as important as analog circuits. For non-stage performances where foolproof scenarios must be ensured, other application scenarios do not need to be considered.
This can explain a problem: the mobile phones we use are also wireless communication devices, but mobile phones do not have the concept of true diversity.
On the other hand, whether it is an analog circuit for analog audio or a digital circuit for digital audio, antenna diversity is still necessary because radio transmission is more or less affected by the multipath effect. The receiving antennas at different locations will have different signal strengths. the difference.
This can explain why the antenna diversity antenna should be opened as much as possible. The tops of the two antennas are separated by 1/2 wavelength, 1/4 wavelength, and 3/8 wavelength, which are all meaningful.
